After going through some traces, we replaced an old cat 5 drop with several

I'm at a remote site right now. I can help when I get back to an office. My
only large backup is on a 4.2.1 system. I restore that VM backup to a 4.4
system, and then the 4.4 system shows the problems. I may have also imported
the users from the 4.2.1 system to the 4.4. It has been a few months.
I have a jira on this. I can look it up in a little while. This was the same on
4.2.1 for me. I have one large system (4.2.1 still) with about 160 lines and it
eventually uses all 16 GB of RAM.

Correct. There is no phone plugged in for this test. It is set for forward if
no answer. I have tried different values for both settings under forward ( how
long to ring the extension and the forwarded number) and it makes no
difference).

Most of my installations are extremely vanilla. It does it on all kinds of
hardware and on test vmware. It does it on a freshly built 4.4 machine. It
seems the backup size has to be pretty big to make it really noticeable. M
