I know the 5 minute thing is an issue with the 7920g, which is wireless, and
the solution is to address power setting modes on them to disable them.

Unicast fixed the clock problem. Now back to the drawing board on the 5 minute
timeout issue.

we don't have a 5 min timeout problem on internal users. (and its NOT
the firewall or natting) sipx isn't allowing the cisco to do its
nattyness no matter how you set it.

I've seen some old threads about Cisco 7960s dropping media after about 5
minutes on a call, but didn't see any resolutions. Did this ever get resolved?
I got some remote users that when they make an internal call, the call loses
audio after about 5 minutes but appears to remain connected.

Only seems to be with ITSP's through sipXbridge and not with standard
gateways... is that right?
Nope, sipXbridge is not involved at all, I just have a standard sip trunk
gateway setup with Vitelity, neither the sipX box or the cisco is behind
(don't hate me: set up a sipx-cisco-users and we will leave you
alone, those of us with dozens of cisco phones would rather work out
the gremlins with the cisco/sipx than work out the gremlins with
cisco/askerisk :-)

When I send a profile (or manually reset), or it seems let it sit, the ring and
handset volume on the cisco 7960's show 'lowest setting', but are obnoxiously
load, till manually lowered.
some setting I am missing? do I need to put the (non standard) settings into a
SIPDefault.cnf in tftpd
