I agree absolutely.
One of my biggest problems is configuring /etc/printcap remotely. As a
config file /etc/printcap is a bloody disaster. So, use printtool I hear
you say; but I don't run X over the Internet for security and performance
reasons.

Not in '87 I don't think they would have, more like DOS 3. I seem to
recall what they look like and their weight would definitly be suitable
for boat anchors.

You need rpm version 3.0.5 or greater. (but not version 4)
The latest versions of rpm 3.0.5 onwards can install version 4 rpms
using a version 3 rpm database.
rpm 4 has a different database format.

Actually, it seems the RPM of rpm in the Red Hat 6.2 updates, which is
