I don't have Debian Woody installed, but I've been using Knoppix (DEbian
3.0 based) - bootable CD - and have had great success using the included
CDBakeOven for burning iso's and copying CDs.

to install by not adding any packages to the WorkStation
configuration. CD 3 is then not called for.
Haven't attempted to sort this out as I'm unable to get the basic
installation to boot on my AMD K6, though Suse 8.0 runs OK.

Try Bits Computer Graphics (www.bits.com.au).
They have mostly Apple stuff, but the external USB/Firewire enclosures work
with Linux.
Watch whether the enclosure is USB 2.0 oe 1.1 though.

When last I asked for advice on buying a CD burner I was told to
hold off until USB2 had established itself.

I have a PC Plus mag cover DVD with copies of 3 Debian CDs in .raw format.
Supposedly these are .ISO files for burning to CD.
I have previously burned CDs frpm .iso images, but how do I burn from .raw
files?
Normally I'd use Nero under Windows.

I think very short bursts are network checks, as my network switch is
doing at the moment,
even though this is the only box currently switched on. My modem also
flashes it's LED's, but
unless you have your eyes already on them you won't see it, it happens
so fast.

I was installing. last thing before this it set VGA16 as default.
when it does manage to start x it locks the system up, the only way out
is to cut the power.

I have a problem with Gnome in that when I minimise a terminal or window it
doesn't minimise to the task bar but completely disappears, seemingly
closing. This does not happen in KDE. Any ideas re reason for this, or

On p.146 of the LaTeX Graphic Companion, the programme makes use
of a package called postpoly.
Which I cant find on the AARNET mirror in Australia.

The trouble with posting summat like this is that:--
1) Some will say it's off-topic and not funny.
2) Some will say that it's funny, but that they've seen it.
3) Some will want to add to it with definitions of their own.
These are generally quite good.
