Members of the AMA seemed rather impressed with this. Even though no one has
commented on my suggestion of a presentation for RC sailplanes, I want to
try to work on this over the summer.
I will try to stress with a safe, quiet, and educational hobby RC sailplanes
can be.

does somebody have a link to the alleged safety proposal?
a source where the actual proposal may be..
do we go to our dist. VP saying we heard a rumor? (what a popular way to

You can buy replacement switches with washer and nuts from Airtronics. I think you can buy a similar size switch at Radio Shack, with a conventional hex net that is easier to tighten with conventional tools.
Airtronics now sells a 1100 pack that is also available, in stock from Johnny Berlin at
Not only are they self-insured, but they are talking about raising
membership dues because of it. They say that an increase is needed. How
long ago did the Board vote to give Joyce Hager some big bonus?
This sounds more like it, from what I understand, the insurance premium is

Root Chord: 12
Tip Chord: 5
Wing Span: 34 (17 per wing)
Airfoil: SD7003 with thickness at 8.514% and camber at 1.482%
From what I understand the original foil was modified at under side of the
trailing edge area.
It has a good roll rate and is very aerobatic.
That being said,
Mike,
On the what's new header on the AMA webpage, there is a proposal for
powered aircraft distance changes to 500' but does not mention that that has
been reported here. Don't know where it came from, I have just as you
stated emailed my Dist. VP for clarification. That's all we can do at

This thread is going off topic but I have to with Walter on this one,
The last ISR had over 80 individual heat races with 3 pilots per heat on
average with only 3 or 4 model fatalities.
That's not a carnage fest by any stretch of imagination.
Yes, negative talk will keep potential racers away.
I agree with Mark, as I own a Noseeum as well -- i found the Noseeum to be a
worthy contender to the Herring. The Noseeum is also a tougher ship, due to
it's EPP construction and CF spar. However, the EPP is softer and less
stiff (hence the need for the CF spar), and needs more care during
I was hoping this would be a simple matter of wrapping some wire around
a f/g tube and covering it with shrink tubing, maybe a little hassle
with a connector or some other doodad, but oscilloscopes? Oh well.

I guess it doesn't really matter... I just don't want to start a bad habit
in case it does. Thanks!

I own both, so i'll give you my take.
The Herring
is made of EPS (standard polystyrene)
has no spar
is covered with packing tape (which easily sticks to styro)
is very stiff naturally
is slightly *less* durable than the EPP Noseeum
can fold in half (so can the Noseeum, if you

Hi
Up for flaps/spoilers retracted...this correlates to power RC (up=throttle
open or go, down =throttle closed or stop). This would also minimize
problems if you fly someone else's plane.

Gidday all,
Try this website for rubber duckies. Believe me, it's not worth making your
own when it can be bought from canterbury sailplanes at a very reasonable
price. The NZ dollar is about 2:1 USD.

Which mag did I see this plane in? I think it was a full scale
