I built and flew one a few years ago. It's a very nice kit and a pretty good
flying plane. The mods previously noted are probably a good idea, but I flew
mine without them and enjoyed it. You can blow it up on a winch if you have a
heavy foot, but if you excersize a nominal amount of

From www.dhl.com I was able to register and get an account # to ship stuff.
Registering consisted of providing my name, street address, Visa card #,
e-mail address, user name and password, etc.
Via the Internet, after providing destination address and package info, I
could print out a waybill
FedEx and UPS are asleep at the wheel. DHL is the most economical way for
small business and individuals to ship. The other guys (especially UPS and
USPS Parcel Post) have priced themselves out of the business or at least are
trying to it seems. Everyone needs to try out DHL package service.
It's a nuisance to everybody in your address book. It could be mildly
useful for the individual using it unless aggravates friends/customers like
it does me. - EJ

Avoid it at all costs. Same category as a virus or spyware, IMVWEO.

Greetings guys
There has been a lot of discussion on this reflector about how and
where one should attach carbon onto spars to make them effective.
Here's my problem, I'm setting up an Electric Me163 and want to use the
rudder. I have been able to make the rudder servo work in it's proper place,
the throttle I have working properly. It's the elevons I'm having fits
with... can't make them work. I have the one servo connected as the RE and
Let's assume that we are talking about spar systems where there are shear
webs involved. What we have is a beam in this case. If this beam is
rectangular in shape or symmetrical about it's longitudinal centerline, then
the top half of the spar assembly is basically in compression and the

That's not nearly as amazing as UPS. A glider left Phoenix yesterday bound
for Washington State. It arrived in Louisville this morning. They claim it
will reach its destination tomorrow. I wonder if that's its intended
destination or just wherever it winds up?

I have found Fed-Ex to be right in there with DHL. I
have accounts with both shippers and Fed-Ex is a bit
easier as I can drop my packages off at Kinko's (2

crate of 4 Sopranos with insurance for the value of
the kits was a bit less than what
The problem with DHL where I am is that they bought out Airborne Express --
same people and same bad service. Hopefully it will get better.

Shipped a sailplane with FedEx and the box was crushed. The center wing
panel was damaged. The guy I sent it to was smart enough to take
photos(lots of them) of the box before he opened it. Any advice on what or
what not to say when filling out the claim form?
Thanks,
Brad

Dan, I just completed a Majestic last week. The kit was great. I did reinforce
the spar using
carbon top and bottom and wrapped the spar with Kevlar thread.
I flew it the first time on New Years day. It fly's excellent and tracked up
the tow perfect. The
last flight I put the petal down and it
I have been flying my Majestic for several years now. The Majestic is a
good, well designed kit. It shows lift well and has good penetration for
returning home after extended downwind thermal chasing.
I have also exploded my wing at the top of the launch, this was not a design
flaw, it was

They Won't cover built models, so good luck. You have to put toy airplane
KIT and cross your fingers.
They will take your insurance money, but may not pay the claims. Had a
Minimoa destroyed and they just refused to pay anything. Might depend on
who you get for a review agent.

I have encontered 8 claims to date;
Any/all claims like this must be honored. Whether you have the time or the
staying power (squeeky wheel gets the grease) is another question.
Fact: there is no small print that states model aircraft claims will not be
honored. What the shipping agent tells
The fine print does clearly state that they will not cover scale models that
are already built. They have covered composite planes that are not
considered scale models. Companies like Tower and others have an
exemption.
I would call the claims office and just ask. There is a specific

Another concern as you point out, is the proper HARM code. Very important! I
have had the same fine print thrown at me, I still received a full claim cost
in both circumstances...

That's the local joke here in NYC. If I send a Fedex letter from
midtown Manhatten to Jersey City, NJ (just across the river) it goes to
Newark, gets on a plane and heads to Memphis. Comes back the next
morning and backtracks to Jersey City.
Silly.

Terry, find a roofing materials distributor. They stock a product called
Plazamate or roofmate. Plazamate 60 is Highload 60 but it has a rabbited
edge so that the 2' x 8' panels interlock. It's the same as Highload 60 but
made for the roofing industry.
