I'd like to add that my information indicates that the scoring for the WC
will be real-time. As each pilot's data is committed at the flight line it
will be immediately available on the website.
This means you guys will have to stay up all nite to watch the action!

As some of you are aware I recently came in 3rd overall and first in my class
in our local 2 day contest... Why... I can't even see my plane let alone fly
it...But because of my timer Caller... FRED WEAVER :-)
Without a great Caller - Timer... Your going to suck... plane and simple :-)
Sounds very impressive.
I did not see a Web cam on their site. Wonder if that will be added for WC?

Just read the article. To some extent, I find myself agreeing (did I
write that? pass the Risperdal!). However, just because Gordy and I
succumb to tempatation when we have an electric glider* that is getting
low, doesn't mean other people do. If you have the strength of will to
ignore that

you can go to

and read a ton of stuff about electric sailplanes and altitude limiting.
It will probably come in due time and I am trying to help that along,
Seems to me there is a simple solution To use motors in place of
winches and make it an even playing field, just simply require the use of
only one specific make and model of motor, prop and battery pack so that
everyone has exactly the same power system (like using the same winch) AND
And for the real purists that don't want to sully their models with an
installed power system, a standard power pod could be attached via the
normal tow hook, which would drop off at the end of the power run and be
recovered via it's own little chute by a runner, etc. That way, you don't

Found this link for a video of the Sporyapi Cup. the Pre-Contest to the
F3J Worlds tomorrow. Good showing for the USA.
It looks like Ben had to practice his high jump on the last landing.
Just missed coming down on his glider. Also appears he didn't dump his
flaps. Been there, done that. LJ
Hey Guys,
I keep coming back to a thought that man-on-man could mean man-on-man all
freakin' day. Fly as many flights as you can. Start at 9am, end at 4 (or 6),
non-precision TD (10 mins?), put out a lot of spots, launch however you like
(winch, zoom start, etc.)..
Bring it!
Thanks, Josh.
Actually the Cool thing about the PROGRAMABLE motor cutoff is that it
includes the things you are looking for. The CD decides the alt that
morning of the contest and ALL shut down at the same time, regardless
of motor, prop, battery config. ALL start at exactly the same height
and all

When we can't use winches or high starts any more...TD sailplaners will not
be interested in bigger motors, because we were never interested in any
motors. And if you actually flew contests you'd find that the dreaded 'they'
don't exist, there is only us guys, pals

Ben was at the top but rushed a landing that he ended having to jump his
plane to avoid getting knocked.
Our guys are there to play ! ;-)
Congrats guys!

It would have to be altitude and time, and only one single motor run. I'd
rather go straight for a thermal than straight up. It 's going to be tough
for LSF to allow electric motors in a pure sailplane environment. Will need
a new category.
Just something more to go wrong with my plane. It
Gordy,
It's still a contest EVEN IF YOU, THE INFAMOUS GORDY, ARE NOT FLYING IN
IT!
The guys I know are not into playing loopholes. They just like to fly
electric sometimes. At least two of us are LSF Level 4, and we didn't
use electric motors in our gliders for that.
My electric model
So you can fly around as long as you can and look for thermals, but the
motor goes off at 500 ft. Not very competitive.
