instructions to setup an electric motor sailplane with the Stylus. The
instructions allow you to still use the flaps stick with the
flaperon/spoileron and have proportional throttle control via the side

Some motor controllers look for a pulse rate that increases in width to
match low throttle (in it's mind). Try reversing the flap servo
direction (which you are using for throttle) to see whether the
controller responds to low throttle position, which then arms the
controller...
