It wasn't supported up till now, I think they will be introducing it in the
coming weeks.

Wow, it is quite impressive what an impact Redshift has made already.
I have done a fair amount of testing with Redshift too and find on average
scenes to be 5-10 times faster than Arnold with comparable quality, plus a
number of things are simpler to set up the way you want it, in part because
sorry for the potentially silly question, but how is redshift with
Rendermap? we use it extensively with MR, and would need redshift to have
the same capability

Hello! Maybe this goes without saying but is there any reason to be on
maintenance for Softimage at this point?
I let it lapse because there are no updates. I just want to make sure
since I got this warning email. And the resellers are completely
clueless about Softimage.

I thought everyone owning a softimage licence was offered either maya or
max plus softimage? In which case it might be worth renewing it for access
to those.

My understanding of it, is we can coming to use Softimage and Maya 2015
but once you stop the subscription you have to pay
for a full license.

2015 licenses are still perpetual and, as I understand it, Maya 2016
too...This is corroborated by the fact that I have not given any more money
to Autodesk and I still have use of my license for Soft and Maya.

I was told by Barry at VCA that (at least my softimage license) is permanent
but if I want to continue with a license to Maya, I would need to renew.

Scott, that is what I have done. My Softimage lic hasn't expired, but I
have continued and paid the maintenance for a seat of M**a

Depends on if you have Creative Suite or just a Softimage license. If you
have a CS you might want to keep getting access to Maya etc.

I also came from LW. Not showing the tut to hint you to use it. Just that
there might be little pieces that aid your own process.
They are making a new geometry engine in Layout, to be able to have access
to mesh elements, etc. But I just can't... I dunno... XSI is just a very
rational
Well, design, archviz and games are quite different areas, but in general:
Design: Rhinoceros, very very easy to use and to create some amazing stuff
Games: In recent years lots of studios have been using
(thanks/because/being forced from ) Autodesk Maya and I have to say, at
least now I'm
Ahaha

And they're adding a deformation stack...

I thought they mentioned having rendermaps in soft actually working
partially, they were just looking for a method on how to implement it
across the board.
I could be completely wrong though. Either way i would like the volumes
more :), sorry baking guys.

Eeer, for the unfolding, I'm just looking a way to do it overal. I started
looking at the LW tut, but it was on my cell phone... I also looked at some
method on Houdini which get me looking at
I'd say the timescale for rendermapping/baking will be months rather than
weeks - seems like complex volume rendering will come before baking.
