If you have 45mm and 32mm dual gauge you can run "N", 9mm, on the narrow
gauge.

Pete,
Great thinking--very interesting! So now I assume you will be ordering the
Hornby live steam since you have "track in place"! You caused me to
measure my 4-3/4--3-1/2" but since I was generous with the 3-1/2" track to
accomodate the Britannia I only have 30mm--or I would be good for 32mm f
Geoff ...
When I first set rail to tie on the East Serendipity Railway these many
years ago I never thought I would be such a trend setter ... having built
dual gauge track with gauges 1 and 2 some years ago, I was pleased to
discover that with the rail width used I was left with about 16.5mm (
Mike,
You may be right about the twelve coaches, but I would prefer to see
her heading a set of Gresley articulateds in teak!! This could tempt
me back to cellar railroading, but I'd have to swap my Myford for a
watchmakers model and an eyeglas!.

Bob,
Thanks!
A unique concept if you ask me. Having the "boiler" and heating in the
tender allows for room in the locomotive boiler space for cylinder or
cylinders. I suspect they use an oscillator- or oscillators.
Well, my first loco was an O gauge Hornby c/w in 1930--so I guess I'll be

Yes, looked at the website love the Mallard engine and live steam also.

Interesting, I've heard of steam locomotives being built by hobbyists as

To those of the list,
I have just read a sales insert from Hornby regarding their latest
producta HO/OO scale electrically heated live steam A4 ( British
4-6-2). It looks amazing. The electrically heated boiler is in the
tender, all the electronics and dual chime whistles are in the loco.

It came today and seems like it turned out to be a good deal. Ran it today
on my lunch hour and even runs better than the one I have. Came with a
pressure guage and the aftermarket safety valve. I guess I scored at that
price. Hmmn, now what to make out of it.

Gee, a little cosmetic work, and that would make a great EBT#1! I've
got drawings for that in 1:20, and it's on my "someday" list of locos to
build, along with EBT #12. (That way, it will look better with my 1:22
B'mann hoppers.) Currently, my only EBT steamer is a modified Creekside

Welcome Wayne,
Since the Oracle (Dave) accepts your 1/12 scale Porter, I'll make a
comment it. I bought an O.S Porter kit in 1990 and have been running it
since that time. Wonderful loco and it sure delights the kids sitting
behind me on the riding car. The visiting ladies enjoy it most however

This is right on the edge of size (our charter talks about 1:13 and your
engine is 1:12) -- but all true small-scale live steamers admire Koz
