I have been running the dyndns native client for the last few weeks.. I
switched back to the dyndns client in PfSense this morning:
This is on 089.2, PPPoE with IP changes every 48 hours or so, DynDns (Custom),
CARP is Off at the moment.
I also did :
update_file.sh /etc/inc/dyndns.class

I did:
fresh install of 0.89.2
fresh re-configure ewerything (no backup-load)
update_file.sh /etc/inc/dyndns.class
Update the file in /usr/sbin from Bill's instructions
update_file.sh /etc/crontab && shutdown -r now
reboot of the system

I knew for the lan-boot option... in fact the boot
sequence-slowdown appears during the pfsense-boot,
well after the bios-and-lanboot-part...
anyway I'll try your idea but not before tomorrow
because I'm currently testing dyndns and pppoe...

as well. I am a bit afraid to reboot since I am in the office today and
need the internet connection to work :-)

I reboot here after applying the fix seems to have fixed this for me. I
rebooted and things came back up fine. I was able to get out of my LAN
to the internet and my dyndns address was the correct IP.
I'll reboot again before I leave today, just for grins.

1.)
2 x with the tag. In both case updated the dyndns record to
the new address.
2.)
2 x without this tag. 1 case it didn't updated, the other time it did. No idea
why. There was do other difference in the booting.

What kind of WAN do you have? In case you have DHCP and are trying to trigger
the updateprocess by unhooking and replugging the interface you might not be
able to test this. There is a fix for replugging cables in the next version. I
think without this fix you're not able to test this but thanks

General comments about traffic shaping in PFSense from a fairly new user who
chose Pfsense mostly because it did offer traffic shaping.
This may sound like a put down and I don't mean it that way, I just want you
to see it from another point of view.

I have one well-established one that's more of a nuisance than anythin
I can try to help test things concerning PPPOE when I have hardware
available to do so. My hardware goes back and forth between the office and
home. PPPOE is at home only and I don't plan on losing it any time soon.
