Well, have a look at multiport NIC's.
I've set up my system with 2-port Intel NICs and tried out
4-port NICs too...
They work well and pfSense supports up to 32
NICs...
so there should be no problem for you to get it up and
running ! :-)

experiences using 4 Port Sun HME 10/100 Ethernet PCI NICs.
Maybe you have some good
old unused suns to get it from.

Intel PWLA8492MT (dual port)
Intel PWLA8494MT (quad port)
those should be very common and easy to come by, and will work. I
