This is indeed sad news Dr Holsinger was a friend of many many Texas cavers.
He was the expert who worked on amphipods. As a fledgling cave biologist he
was the first specialist who I sent specimens to for ID. 1974 The Great Mud
Cave in Williamson county. He did the pioneering work on Texa
Dr. Holsinger was a student of Dr. Barr, at UKY. They visited one of my high
school caves, Lisanby Cave in west KY. The first time I met Dr. Holsinger I
told him we snuck in the cave. He said go up and meet Mrs. Lisanby as she is a
very nice lady. From then on we did that for all cave owners.

The last issue I received of of the Texascavers Digest was Vol 52, Issue
16 on October 25, 2018. On Nov. 2, I sent an email to the list owner
which was never answered.
Then today I received Issue 17 (dated 10/27) over a month late. I

According to this article the Peregrine pokes along at only 60 mph in
horizontal flight and can only hit top speed while diving; whereas, the Common
swift clocks in at 69 mph, still a bit pokey. Like the Peregrine, I believe
swifts can dive much faster than they can fly horizontally.
