Jim, I would think that a lot of cavers don't want to admit to solo caving trips because it's such a bad idea. I told two stories on myself in my caving book, "Huautla: Thirty Years in One of the World's Deepest Caves", pages 58 - 59 and 142 - 143. In both cases things could have gone bad.
