Wow.
Looks like this must be voodoo for real and nobody knows nuttin, not no
way, not no how.
BTW, on a related note - showing clearly that even after 20+ years as a
tech I am NOT any sort of coder=

I must say I am very discouraged and saddened with Tiddlywiki as a whole
right now.
TW5 is of no use or interest to me - and it seems as if there is nobody
around anymore who is willing to help a struggling TWC user like myself.
I have searched dilligently - gotten tried every server-side
Thanks Jeremy.
Now that my post is up I do hope there are also some answers for my
questions...?!

I am baffled - why would my most recent posting here vanish (or have been
deleted...) without any notice whatever ??
Due to situations beyond my control my 2 instances of TWC have yet to be
combined into one instance.
My prior posting explained how I ended up with 2 divergent versions at
I have been using TWC from my hosted space for quite a while now and it is
just exactly what I need.
Making notes and saving them this way allows me to use it from any browser,
anyplace that I may be.
It uses the TiddlyHome System and is PW protected too, so it is also
private enough for me.

I have a local backup of the file 'index.html' which I can easily upload to
the same domain - is that enough by itself ??
Also, the folder in which my TWC files exist is PW protected by TiddlyHome
- will that cause a problem in doing this ??
Thanks, and Best Wishes.

Hello Athman.
I have been using TWHome for saving Tiddlywiki on my hosted space.
TWHome seems to break very easily – has many things in it which are poorly
documented – and altogether is not an ideal solution for self-hosting TW
for one’s own usage.
I have hoped a better solution would
Hi Måns and thanks again !!!
I had to take a long route to get started again on my new hosting with my
already-created content not getting lost.
Simply installing TWHome on the new hosting was a bust because no matter
what I tried I could not get it to create a site by it's own command (per

Hi Måns, and thanks !!!
I did find edit config.php, .htaccess, .htgroup and .htpasswd right away
- but it still would not save to the hosting at all.
I also looked for any/all occurances of the Url/domain and hand-edited
those without success.
The Backstage reappeared and though it LOOKS good,
I find myself once again struggling with the TiddlyHome setup on my own
domain/hosting.
I set the admin p/w with no trouble.
I created another user with no trouble.
I go to create a new site and can get NO farther than Owner or Password
does not match for 'admin' or unable to create
I've been using TiddlyWiki from my hosting for about 6 months now, very
happily.
It has been PW protected and I have been happily logging in, adding info -
saving - and always able to re-visit my notes.
Truly it is a marvelously helpful tool !!!
At one point (at my office) there was a trial of
This relates with a prior post I made and a problem that I have no idea how
to solve, still.
I followed all the suggestions given before quite carefully and still at
home I have backstage access, and at the office= none.
I searched on the term=: tiddlywiki show backstage and visited a bunch

Hello Again Folks and thanks again !!!
I tried everything suggested previously - but could not check my TW's
settings when I was at the office because no matter what I've done the
backstage remains stubbornly hidden. (Therefore I could also not check the

Thanks SO MUCH Eric - that works PERFECTLY !!!
(Now if I can just get it all to work right at the office I'll have to do a
happy dance...)

Howdy Folks.
I have a 'list all' tiddler that works fine, and it is quite long !!!
Looking at it I wonder 2 things and will greatly appreciate any pointers,
please:
1.
Is there an easy way to make it into several (as in 3 or 4) columns ??
2.
Is there also any way for it to be listed from
Hi Måns and All.
OK, I'm at the office now - and coincedentally the web-host has repaired
the original server...and my TW saves again ?!?
Also as instructed, this is in it:
// make it so you can by default see edit controls via http
config.options.chkHttpReadOnly = false;
window.readOnly =
I've got a great, online editable TW that saves fine to my hosting - just
what I've wanted for some time.
It works 100% perfectly from home.
-BUT-:
When I try using it from the office, where it is the same DSL provider 20
miles from home, it loads my TW in read-only mode despite logging in just
I prefer to keep my right sidebar hidden and have all the things I need
from it copied so it can stay hidden, except:
A fully working 'save to web' option.
I put this in, and got one identical to the backstage one:

It works - results of which look like:

I am learning to use and customize TiddlyWiki and mostly it is going well
so far.
Found the same directions for installing FCKEditor in several places and
tried to do it...without any success.
Seems like my initial trouble was getting CKEditor instead, so I searched
here and found the link to
I've read the instructions for manual plugin installation and it seems
simple enough, BUT:
Tonight I was browsing http://www.tiddlytools.com/ and all the plugins
offered there have only blocks of code - which makes sense to me when
there's a single block...what about when there's TWO big blocks
I have a TW set up pretty much how I'd like it, and would like to
accomplish 2 more things which I hope someone will instruct me about:
1. Having the menu on the left be more like a TOC.
2. Somehow automagically having every new tiddler produce a link or entry
there which I could change if
My online TW is working well enough for me to use it and it is saving just
fine.
I've edited the DefaultTiddlers so that just the one I want to start with
should open...but every time it opens it also includes one called Test
Tiddler, and I've no clue why it does this.
I go to edit= delete and
Thank You Måns, that is *Fantastic* (It's clear enough even for a dummy
like me !!!).
My current webhost has enabled a security restriction called suphp in their
server, and it only allows permissions for folders of 755 and for files,
644 - is that a problem for using this as you've shown me
what looks like a
barrier in using TW on ordinary, cheap hosting ?!?

use/edit/save TW on that from wherever I may be.
(I do want it on my own web-space, preferably PW protected and not on any

After looking around I've found mention of doing this, and searching here
