I have a question
What's the difference between Sternberg's practical intelligence and the
construct of crystallized intelligence (Horn/Catell)?
Seems like Sternberg focuses on tacit knowledge but can't that be considered a
subset of crystallized?

As to aliensts, my understanding is that it follows from the early view that
psychiatric patients were in a state of alienation and in need of the
services of an alienist.
Aside: There is a good historical novel set in New York City titled The
Alienist by Caleb Carr.

Annette,
I was thinking of alienation as the condition of someone who had lost touch
with self/reality.
Pinel wrote about insanity as mental alienation at the end of the 18th century.

Zimbardo's second wife is Christina Maslach who was a grad student helping with

Hi Nancy,
My first response is don't worry about it. Move on.
If your concern is about keeping discussion open, just continue being a human
being. They'll get the message (or not).
To my mind, unless you were rude, apologizing to the class just exaggerates
things.
