Does anyone know how close the U.S. is to approving stem cell implants?
Have you or do you know of anyone who has traveled to Europe the obtain them?

I hope everyone is watching ABC - Pres Obama/ABC discussion on health care
now and at 11:30 nightline.
I tried it about 2 months ago. I vowed to myself, if I didn't notice any
change after 6 treatments, I would stop. Before I made that decision, I did
discuss it my my chiropractor and he said that was reasonable. Other wise I
felt that I could continue with false hope. I noticed no change.
Happy Birthday to all of you.

Has anyone gone to the Mayo Clinic for a work-up or 2nd opinion for any of
their problems? If you did, what was the issue that you went there for and
were you satified with the outcomes?

Who can tell me if this still sounds like a Transverse Myelitis Diagnosis? My
right leg including up to my waist, was originally affected at the onset of my
illness in June 2005. I had hyper reflex in that leg and the left leg was
normal. I now have numbness in the left leg and hyper
I truly believe there is strength in numbers. So if we set a target date,
and ask as many as possible to write to Montel during that time frame,
perhaps that would be more beneficial than a few straggled throughout the
year.

For those of you who can ambulate, do you notice increased numbness in your

Hello Alan,
Welcome! You must be the comedian of the group! I've only been with the
group since last August and there are no new treatments that I am aware of.

You all are awesome at giving out words of kindness and encouragement. Here
is what I am going through and if you have any suggestions, through them my

June 2005, diagnosed TM. Hospitalized 5 weeks. One week IV steroids, 4
weeks aggressive rehab. Got strong enough to walk again.
Ed Bradley on 60 Minutes will be interviewing Dr. Hans Keirstead, who

I do not take this medication or any for TM except for my bowels that don't
function properly. But this is the info I have been given from my neuro
regarding TM and MS. He told me when I was diagnosed with TM that about 30%
of the patients will go on to deveolp M/S. He said he diagnosed a

annoy me that people do it, cause I really don't think it is there intention

Hi Jeff and All,
This is everything I can remember:
I received a flu shot either Oct or Nov, 2004, and I had a Mantuoux (TB)
test in Feb 2005. I believe the TB test is given with a live virus, but not
positive. I work in a hospital which is why I received the TB test, it's
mandatory.
I forgot one thing...I chose not to get a flu shot this year after reading a
few things about it. My PCP was neutral on the flu shot. He said to do
whatever my neuro said. My neuro first told me not to get one with
preservatives in it. So I decided not to get one.

I hope you don't mind me asking this question as it really has nothing to do
with TM, but... are any of you using Vonage for your phone service and do
you like it? Is the recepiton as good as your local carrier was?

Yes, bowel control is a huge issue. My neurologist also told me to try to
do exercises much like us women would perform the kagel exercise only try to
squeeze and hold the rectum muscle for a few seconds. I can't say that it
has helped 100% as I also have some accidents...only my BM's are
