Frank Heather,
I am trying to figure out whether you are better off in Canada or us in the
US. The more I try to educate myself, the more confused I become.
You both seem satisfied with your health care system. That's good
. But yes, in a perfect system, there would be no waiting
times, no shortages and much better wages and working conditions.

Hi Heather,
I had heard that you pay a lot of taxes toward your socialized medicine. Is
this correct? I am not sure if you can respond as far as whether the taxes
would be higher than what we pay here though, unless you are aware of them.
Insurance coverage is a really tough issue, and

go backwards with help. Unless I know this is an ADA ramp then I can do it my

Your 90% weightless in a pool, and you'll be able to move freely. That's how I

Grace,
Yes, that is what I meant. That you had the TMIC address in your address
book. Other than that, I have no idea why you are not receiving all the
emails. I know that has to be frustrating. Natalie M.

Came back here because of my kids, and also to be near my old neuro. I'm

Hope this helps explain.

No, a power chair is controlled by a set speed (the one you choose), it will
not act like a manual chair.

'life threatening'.

Kevin,
Can I ask why your hands are going numb? I just got my first manual w/c.
I've been user the store's loaner - it was shipped new to be at Baylor in Feb.
or March. I have not had anymore places on me going numb yet. I hope my hands
don't give way, as I only have this manual.
Grace,
This might sound dumb, but when you happen to take a spill, how would
Life-Alert get in your door? I've wondered, because of I were to happen to
ever need it, I wouldn't know how they would get in you know. Thanks, Natalie

Pam,
I really don't know why. Usually they (whoever puts it in), I think doesn't

Hi Kevin,
Right now I have a manual chair. I'm little, but have very strong arms
from all of the exercising. My one hand is a little weak, but if I need
to, I can still maneuver fairly well. I've been out of the chair and walker
for a little over a year, and have done well, but I keep it
Hi, I have a Jazzy wheelchair and it is a life saver. I also have a manual
chair which my therapists really wanted me to use to keep upper body
strength and perhaps I would walk with my walker more. However, at this point
in my
life I have to make things easier for me and my husband.
Hi Kevin, I am kind of light weight and flexible so I bend down and can
lift up the foot rest which is pretty heavy. Someone I know uses a pole with
a
hook on the end (actually I got one in rehab which is used for a dressing
aid). He is able to lift it up with that. the foot rest is on
I am about to switch to an electric chair from a manual chair. I have so far
narrowed my choice down to a Shoprider 10Runner. The primary reasons are, it
has a very tight turning radius 21.5inches. It only weighs 192 lbs so I can
lift it with the crane in my pick-up which I use for my my manual
Hi Grace,
i don't have a wheelchair, but don't think I can put it off much
longer. Do you
mind if I ask what kind you have? I'm pretty sure I will need a power chair
because my hands are going numb. ;-/

Natalie,
First question: Are you one of the walking wounded? If so, a ridged frame could make it not only difficult but dangerous getting up. The foot plate can trip you very easily when standing up and stepping over it. Then when you go to sit down, you might have to sit from the side then
