I run the latest squeezeserver on ubuntu linux 10.04.
With softsqueeze I can play music from that server.
My out-of-the-box Squeezebox Touch however gives the following
message:
squeezeplay: ERROR net.http - SocketHttp.lua:390 SocketHttp {Johns
I will try that but just being curious: can you explain why softsqueeze
*does* work apparently with this same firewall setting?

Status: inactive
Ubuntu by default has no firewalling.
I guess this will not be the problem

I contacted Logictech Support with this question. I will post their

If you are using the Squeezebox Server, the computer with that program
needs to be on the same router or access

The SBTouch can connect to the Access Point just fine also, but when
trying to connect to My Music that is stored on my shared drive on my

Where the music is stored is irrelevant. The Touch is not accessing a
network share,
Is that not an oversimplification for things to work automatically sbs
and it's players needs to be on the same network, this network can
consist of several ap's etc .
You can work around it by portforwarding and manually setting the
server-ip .

Yes, the important thing is that the Squeezebox and SB Server need to
be on the same network in order to automatically see each other.
How is the new access point wired? If it's connected to the old router
via it's 'WAN' or 'Internet' port, then anything behind the new router
I deleted my post with the answer from Logictech Support, because their
suggestion that the Computer that is running SBS should be on the same
access point as the touch, did not work either.

Aha, the Touch and the server ARE on different subnets so the discovery
protocol is not going to work. To try and find each other Both the
Touch and the server send out a UDP multicast packet, basically saying
is anybody out there. This only works if the Touch and the player are
on the same

Skip the auto discovery part and tell the Touch the actual IP address

I just put on my HD, Rolling Stones 500 best songs in FLAC. Went to play
it on my touch and it said it was only able to load 100 songs into the
playlist.
I am using the built-in server on the touch with a USB HD attached (
120 gb).
Is this limitaion because of the Tiny SBS? Any way around it?? I

Do a factory reset of the Touch if you haven't already done so, go

The only other thing that could be going on is that there's another DHCP
server running on your network that is handing out addresses on the
192.168.1.x subnet.
Are you sure you've disabled the DHCP _server_ on the WGR614, and not
just the DHCP _client_? It could be confusing. I'm sure they can
Yes, TinySBS has a max playlist size of 100 tracks. Unlike regular SBS
there is no way to alter this on TinySBS. Well, maybe you could hack
the code in TinySBS. But the 100 track limit was put in place for
performance reasons, so even if you hacked it you might not like the
results.

Just did a Factory reset and then connected it wirelessly through my
Access Point. Still no access to my SBS. IP Address still reads
192.168.1.2

? Strange it is.
Your AP's own ip adress is in the 192.168.0.x range ? So you did not
follow that guide you linked to to literarly, they exemplified with a
network adressed 192.168.1.x including the main router...

Softsqueeze is on a different machine.
I do use a router but since softsqueeze works properly I maght assume
the router will not be an issue...?
Nice to know: I recently moven from the Roku Soundbridge. That used to
workt in exactly the same way. The only difference may be ports.
