If you still want to go with the usb interface (using tiny sbs). I can
strongly recommend FAT instead. Ntfs makes it just more difficult to
get it to work. As suggested,only one single partition. Some people are
lucky to get it to work by using usbkeys, but if you really want to deal
with tiny-sbs
Thanks folks, I tried downloading different firmwares, did factory reset
and the problem persists. I'll get it replaced.

My SB3 uses the Touch PSU, the original slim devices EU 230V psu was a
not so good device
to complicate matters was not some late gen Classic ( SB3 ) delivered
with the Touch PSU or a very similat one with these slide on cotact
plates ?

That really sounds like a hardware problem. I've not heard of anybody
else having that issue, so its probably not software.

The new router needs to be setup as a pure access point rather than as a
router so everything will be on the same subnet. You CAN play music
through a router but the auto discovery routines (the server and player
finding each other) do not work between subnets.

Previously I had a network drive mapped directly to the the usb drive
attached to my Touch as below.
media-sda1 on 'Squeezebox Touch - wacky (Wacky)'(Z:)
The issue I had was controlling the Touch using my HTC desire in the
new room due to week wireless signal.
I introduced a new wirless router
Might be good to "upgrade" the SB3 power supply with a less noisy one
from the Touch..
