when i selected the first track from the 'New Music' menu on the touch
it would progress to the next track whatever folder it was in, maybe I

You weren't imagining it - the older ones
If everything works fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you upgrade
your server so it won't recognize 7.6.1 anymore, the player's OS
shouldn't matter.
It's like different computers connected to the internet, there are all
kinds of OS versions that still get on the internet.
The wording may not be exact - I'm writing this from memory - but:
on the Home Screen, select USB (or SD card if using that)
on the screen that comes up, scroll down until it says Eject USB
another screen will show up, scroll down again until you see Eject USB
the screen will say ejecting, then
the sound. That's the only
reason I'd turn it off while playing.

That's probably true. I don't notice any audible difference when the
screen goes OFF or not, so I may as well switch it to NO SCREENSAVER
instead of OFF and get info on what's playing.

to reconnect to a network, set up the
TOUCH to recognize that link and when I disconnect it, hope it will go
straight to Home Menu upon start up and not search for the disconnected
network.
I'm not sure I trust this.
Anyone already done this?

Touch
at home, my advice is to take it
somewhere you can connect to register and go through your set up. Then
you won't need it connected after that.

If you use the button in back to do the FACTORY RESET, it goes further
back in resetting than choosing FACTORY RESET on the touch screen (that
was my experience).
You can try that.

The other thing to check is if the FIXED VOLUME feature is selected. If
it is, I imagine the volume would revert to 100% every time you start
up again.

This morning I asked Logitech support about this and am awaiting a
reply.

Would upgrading to the Logitech Media Server improve performance or
just add features?

advice on this?
I'm using the TOUCH as a stand alone, and the FLAC files play without
problem. Should I just forget about conversion?
