One thing that seems to be causing a lot of problems is large artwork.
If you keep the artwork size d

Have you actually tried attaching a USB drive to the Touch yet?
Deleting the tags will make the data
If scanning can not be disabled, can deleting all tags from all FLAC
files make life easier for embedded SqueezeCenter?
The database will be smaller and more manageable?

If your present server couldn't scan your files with 7.5 there's not
much chance that the server in the Touch would work. Before even
considering using the Touch s

I agree with John's statement about your current mini-itx having a lot
more processing power than the Touch. Re SBS versions, you need SBS
7.5.0 or higher for the Touch. And it's written in Perl, just like
7.3.3.

...And...
Can I use my old SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 with Touch?
I had problems with 7.5
It would freeze on scanning music files, so I had to downgrade to older
version.
I think there is also a difference in programing language between those
two versions.

I don't see why... besides browsing by genre, year, etc, it can simply
browse the music folders.

No, you cannot. Squeezebox users have been asking this question for
years, but the Touch has brought the issue to a head. Squeezebox

Thanks for the fast answer!
I'm a long time SB3 user - I have the original Slimdevices version, not
Logitech.
I believe that I don't have to experience the SB experience first. :)
Main selling point for me was support for external USB drives, so that
PC is not needed anymore for simple FLAC pla
I'd recommend you start off with some of your music on a USB stick or an
SD card before jumping into the attached hard drive. My reasons are
purely functional. Get the feel of how the Touch works and especially
how it sounds. You can always move on to the HDD later. Setup is easy

Hi everybody,
I will get my SB Touch later today.
I got scared reading about problems with external USB drives and large
music collections.
Many people reported problems with long scans that never finish because
of server running out of memory, crashing/ending with some cryptic
messages.
