hey, its true, the new firmware fixes this issue, no need for changing
tag version (which has disadvantages, as my sansa does not recognize
2.4 tags).

any more).
I've tested it for a few days now and it works great with my attached
USB hard drive. Faster navigation, and all mp3 album art (folder and
embedded) is showing fine.

Changing the ID tags from v2.3 to v2.4 restored all the album covers on
my touch! Thats certainly the easiest way to resolve this issue!

Since the Touch upgraded to 7.5.3 (can't remember doing it) I am missing

It should be a .bin file, not a .zip file. I don't know much about the
inner desires of Internet Explorer, which seems to be perverting your
file's name as it downloads. Rename the file to a .bin file. Then you
should be good to go.

I noticed the problem with the spectrum analyzer too. An advice `server
aborting` was displayed if I have chosen it. So I removed it from
displaying (7.5.X).
Now I´m using 7.6 and there is no problem.
Imo 7.6 works fine, no advice `server aborting` in snatches. (I´m using
it for a week now)

So far I've noticed:
- don't use both sd and usb at the same time; it works but it also
seems to destabilize
- don't use the 'now playing' button on the remote to circle through
song views, use the touch screen for that
Otherwise it seems to work well, including mp3 embedded album art!

a look to the 'message' log file in the logs share of the Touch, and I
found this message repeated as many times as the (incorrect) number of
covers detected :

of my USB hard disk and the bug is not fixed : not artwork at all

build r9302 of the Touch's firmware was out today! Let's hope it does
correct the bug introduced in r9283 in the USB disk scanning and that

I've gone back to 7.5.1 and I've got my album art back. It's randomly
decided that the icon to show when I'm streaming BBC Radio 6 should be
the Flickr logo, but I think I can live with that!

I re-applied the firmware in the actual Touch, and that did the trick.
It's under Advanced, Software update, I believe. I don't think you
have to downgrade, it gives you the option to re-apply the current
firmware.

- wipe and rescan
- restore to factory settings
- removing the .squeezebox folder from the USB drive
I even tried all three of them together!
And still no luck...
I'm going to give 7.5.1 a go (thanks for instructions Dieter) and see

Hi mraliman,
one option is to download "SqueezeboxServer-7.5.1.exe" and install it
to your (Windows-) PC as a server. If your touch connects to the PC it
tells you, that there is an update (7.5.1) available.
Another way (and easier) is to download the file "fab4_7.5.1_r9218.bin"
from http://update
mraliman : Have you tried deleting your database and rescanning
completely your USB hard drive after downgrading to the previous
firmware? This is needed to rebuild a clean library from scratch.
(Go to Settings->Advanced->Squeezebox Server and choose the Wipe and
Rescan option)

I have downgraded the Touch's firmware to r9218 yesterday night. I did a
full rescan of my USB disk again and everything is back to normal. All
849 covers are showing perfectly both in album list and while playing.
So I definitely think there's a bug in the r9283 scanning
functionality!

album. As far as I can see there is nothing special about this cover.
It is neither the largest nor the smallest nor the first in the
alphabet or something...
