This problem has plagued me for ages and have just come to these forums
looking for information to find this comment. My squeezeboxserver is
current debian-testing which is 7.5.6.

. How can I get around this cycle?
My sb never used to do this. This problem has been introduced only in
the last 18 months or so.
You can't. If your SBS server version is not the same as the MySB
server version then you will always be prompted to

The only way to avoid this is to not switch servers or update your SBS

Well you've pointed me to the problem. I am running squeezeboxserver on
ubuntu using the debian testing apt source which is 7.5.6~32834. I just
checked and
Since doing the 7.6 update, the SBT doesn't recognise the server (no IP
addr) when wired ethernet.
With wireless, it can't find DHCP.
I wish I had the missing artwork problem, I now have nothing
Done Factory Reset (after rebooting router which did nothing)
What should I try next, get on to

Having been in the software business for 30 years, I learned never to
install an upgrade 'just because it was there'.
You upgrade software to 'get something' you want. And you are willing
to take the risk of upgrading, because you want that 'something' badly
enough.

'If you have the time, it would be great if you could post about these
problems also in the official support forum, so the Logitech support
staff gets aware of it and doesn't recommend all users to downgrade to
7.5.5 so they will get these issues instead. The official support forum

I did report it there and the response was: 1.) don't use both MySB and
SBS, or 2.) live with having to reinstall teh software each time you
make the switch. Ridiculous.

Only unhelpful and pointless, if you don't learn this lesson from your

No, it's not. But I was responding to the OP, whose problem is
different from yours.

Are you using the official 7.6.0 release or a nightly 7.6.1 build ?
If you are using the nightly 7.6.1 build that could be

Clearing the cache seems to have stopped the reminders ... thanks.
I am using the nightly build - I'll leave well alone now until the dust
