In many ways your PC is more versatile than a NAS, so I strongly support
the idea of starting using your regular PC for LMS. It's powerfull and
has an OS that You're familiar with. And it's cheap - You already have
it ;-)
If you're think it uses to much power, consider hooking it up to

Here was my setup: two Squeezebox Receivers with Controller, Squeezebox
Touch, LMS running on a Windows PC, music files stored on the Windows
PC. Before that, I had LMS running on a Western Digital My Book Live

Its a bit more complicated...
When Logitech build "new" Squeezeboxes they also did a job to involve
NAS builders to add LMS into their NAS. Most of the NASses (that supoo
And why not just consider buying a RaspberryPi, install
www.max2play.com, plug a hard drive and use it for server/files only.
Currently I am using an Intel NUC, it does work great, but I am more and
more considering moving to max2play. I believe it's even more cost
effective (power use).

But when you want an NAS: I have build a fanless NAS and this was
cheaper, as to buy one. I have done this along with this 'Tutorial'
