[SlimDevices: Touch] Using Local Touch Server with ipod touch

Two part question- (i am using Logitech's APP on 20 iPod Touches talking to 4 SBT's) 1)do I need MSB to see all radio stations, or will the usb stick server suffice? 2) can I make lAN based Ipod touches find the SBT locally without a lookup at MSB? (it takes too long that way) Tia, Chap Cory

I made a typo, only 10 ipod touches. So no worries, there. But to launch locally, should I use fixed ip addresses and somehow tell the app where the servers are, or is the only way a sort of Bonjour discovery going on? The issue is, the ipods are wall mounted, acting as room controls, and I don

The iPods have multitasking if they are on 4.0, the App doesn't because it's not a native iOS App but a Webapp. But usually the biggest delays are because the iPod shuts down WiFi when idle, also, even the Logitech App does preserve it's state. You could of course use iPeng which you can keep run

So, since we're in a wall dock, ipods are powered all the time. so I'm not concerned about the usual power issues. It's all about quick response on wakeup. Currently, all the SBT's are registered at MySB. The client will have multiple PC's/laptops that will have their individual music on them.

Hi, In spite of your good advice, we're trying one more time w/o local server. We have iPeng up on one ipod touch for testing. We set up "do not disconnect". the ipeng only sees the servers on each SBT, no players, it says clients are missing. Is there special setup in the SBT, I assume we shoul

If there are no players shown, they are not connected to the servers, are they probably on MySB? Have you registered iPeng on MySB (tap on it under Music Sources) -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote and *New: iPeng for iPad*, at penguinlovesmusic.com ---
