I have a prepaid 3G SIM card that has no data left on it. When I use
the latest phone image, I see reliable spikes of CPU from
smartscopesproxy every now and then. It will spike for a few seconds.
Then die down for a few seconds. Then repeat.

I've seen this sometimes in conjunction with bug 1480877, where
NetworkManager and dbus-daemon are in a fight to see who can slow the
other one down the most. In such cases, it can take NetworkManager a
long while to update the indicator.
I'm not saying that all instances of this symptom are due

dup-scan-signals branch and did the same thing I've done before to
trigger this bug: walk around my neighborhood with Terminal open,

On the Ubuntu desktop, DuckDuckGo search uses the t=canonical tag, to
indicate that a search was from Ubuntu (and so that Canonical gets some
income from it).
But webbrowser-app doesn't use that same tag when the search engine is
set to DuckDuckGo.

So I added some debugging output to dbus. When it peaked, it spent over
a third of the CPU entirely in get_recipients_from_list(). (This is
dbus checking if an incoming signal matches any of the rules added by
org.freedesktop.DBus.AddMatch -- i.e. signal subscriptions. It does

You folks mention the session bus. But when I've seen this bug (like my
notes from bug 1480844), it's been the system dbus-daemon that takes
100% CPU.
I attached gdb to it once when this was happening. We seemed to be
spending a chunk of time in get_recipients_from_list(), which iterates
over

System Settings afterward. So while this bug is an annoyance, it
doesn't break anything on your phone.)
My rationale for this behavior was originally that if the user is
already comfortable using the phone, they don't need a

Looking into the ubuntu-push issue... I feel like it's weird that the
turn-on-screen code is spread around the place. It seems like
logically, the component that is showing the notification on the screen
should be turning the screen on. It doesn't feel like a telephony-
service decision, for
