And the Super key? It's good for GNOME Shell, Unity or Compiz in Trisquel.
Super + W. Super + S.
Dear icarolongo

With graphics effects (Compiz):
Alt + Super* + right click in each icon and click in "Move".
*Super = Windows logo or Command in Apple keyboard
Without graphics effects (Metacity):
Alt + right click in each icon and click in "Move".
What's the screen size?

I noticed the same thing. I
Xeon doesn't ship with onboard graphics unit and P67-chipset motherboards do
not have VGA pins. You'd need an external card in these cases.
I took my first steps away form proprietary software, with open source
Ubuntu, back in highschool. I was just looking for a new experience then.
It was like trying to ride my bike further from home than I had been before,

Whoa.. so the $1500 laptop is going to cost me around 1900. And I was
suddenly so happy :(
Stallman didn't "invent" user rights. There was a time, in the early days of
computing, when free software was just called software.
that way i had added icon but now my icons are going left right. how bring
them back to logo of trisquel ?
Thanks for the recommendations. I've been looking to try a new music player
Thanks for the reply Chris. I did inquire!
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/free-software-compatible-laptop
1. Motherboards which take Intel CPUs do not need a separate graphics card.
2. I don't believe the nVidia GT210 is a good choice at the moment. There is
little or no support from the free software nouveau driver.
3. DVD drives usually need to be set the first time you insert a commercial

I think there may be a decent chance that the funds/developer shortage
Trisquel has now may be solved within the year. Even though there is quite a
ways to go...
I think it would be great if the FSF helped with a fund raising campaign for
Trisquel. I'm not so sure if the FSF needs to actual
Free software wise it isn't a problem and you can install the software needed
with/on Trisquel as described elsewhere. The problem is/was digital

most commercial DVDs use CSS (digital restrictions). The problem is w
When using different programs (such as OpenShot) a box pops up that says the
application I was using quit unexpectedly. I dismiss the dialog box, and the
program keeps working, like it was before. Why is this happening?
Approx. Dimensions of the laptop are: 374(W) x 252(D) x 14 ~ 25.4(H)mm
(Height excluded battery area). Or 14.73" x 9.92" x .55" ~ 1" in inches.
It's not happening at the moment even though I'd love to do it. Stickers are
expensive and I can't offset the risk easily with these. The tux keyboard
sticker was a bit less risky as there are millions of GNU/Linux users who
recognize the character. We do have powered by GNU case badges thoug
It is the menu key. The key's primary function is to launch a context menu
with the keyboard rather than with the usual right-mouse button.
Have you tried holding alt+windows key and right-clicking on them? And you
should be able to add new icons by dragging from the main menu, or holding
alt+windows and right-clicking on blank space.
There is so much uncertainty I have a hard time revealing what might be any
more. If I had anticipated this and been more certain about it I would
probably have said something had you inquired about it.
1. No. We are just aiming for better support for Spanish at the moment.
Things have been delayed as far as rolling out a new site go and all sorts of
other stuff. Significantly delayed. Maybe 3-6 months... again. Very
frustrating as we got 99.2% of the way there with the new site and are

Sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but I've filed a bug at the Ubuntu
bugtracker. It's been confirmed and gotten a few responses from Canonical
(see my link later down the page to the DFSG bug where I originally posted
the bug).
That is only marginally larger than the dimensions of my current laptop, so
now it really and truly is a guaranteed sale.
Dear all
I am a new user of trisquel.
i was trying to add some icons to my main gnome panel but i have done
something wrong now my icons are going right and left with opening new
programs.
How to fix the icons after trisquel left logo and how to add some icons to
this list.

This topic seems to be very up to date, since there just appeared this fsf

I'm a convert to Trisquel from windows, and the one single thing I miss from
windows is the foobar2000 music player, I'm not too big on rhythmbox.
Clementine is the best alternative I've found, but I'd really like it if the
folders in the "files" tab had the little arrows next to them, rath
So far, my favorite database-driven music player app is exaile.
I like music and am collecting records (at least a little amount of them).
There are already really good audio players on GNU/Linux! Clementine as far
Qt-interfaces go, gmusicbrowser and QuodLibet as far GTK-interfaces go.
Clementine and gmusicbrowser are probably the best.
There is also De

For the recod it's easy to add nomodeset and no mystery password is needed.

I would love to have a little GNU on my super key.
I've used it to play DVDs in the past and it works quite well. Mine were US
NTSC DVDs, I'm not sure what territory you're in or if it will matter.
If I understand correctly, the FSF's "sponsorship" of gNewSense is limited to
hosting only and being mentioned on gnu.org/distros.
I strongly doubt the FSF is *financially* supporting the gNewSense project.
Do you have any reference?
I consider the FSF had better pay some developers to work on the high
priority projects. But financing RĂºben to work on Trisquel would be a good
move too. :-)
You didn't mention the CPU model. You might be interested in checking its
Trusted Computing status.
You mean the Tux key? It is Super with a tux sticker on it.
The dimensions are mentioned in the page. 37.4 cm x 25.2 cm (or 14.73" x
9.92")
Probably is the Super key (command in Apple keyboard and the most of PCs have
the Windows logo).
Keep this in your inventory until I need a new laptop, and you have a
guaranteed sale from me. That is one awesome machine.
Three questions: I notice that between the Ctrl and Alt keys there's a key
with some kind of design on it.
What is that design? Is it equivalent to the Win key in func

Hi,
Welcome to free software and Trisquel!
Here's our manual on dvd playback; I haven't tried this yet, but I will,
thanks to your inquiry.
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/enable-dvd-playback
It works absolutely fine as far as I can tell. You may want to install
libdvdcss2:
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
Hello, or Hola,
I'm a noob here, considering trying trisquel.
One thing I cannot live without is the ability to watch a DVD
every now and then.
What is the situation with Trisquel with regard to proprietorial DVD viewing?
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance,

Obviously, Rhytmbox has been choosen as the default Music player as it is
very good project-wise. However, I've found this app called "Musique"
(Google it) and it looks extraordinary, it allows you to browse through your
collection way more smooth than iTunes or anything proprietary. I beli

Oh wow, I was looking for a laptop with a high res screen, and settled for
the Gentoo a month ago =(. This hurts a little more than the Ogg Player v2
coming out right after I bought the original Ogg Player.
It's a great looking computer!
I might have missed something here... to which of the Penguins[1] are
you referring to?

This is awesome. I'm saving for a new laptop, and this is the perfect machine
for me(with the i7 :D). But I have a few questions.
1. Can I get one with a dvorak keyboard?
2. What are the approximate shipping charges to India? Also, do I have to pay
the 36% custom tax like I have to do on most
Now when I mention Think Penguin to someone, I won't have to deal with "Bah,
only 1366x768! Full HD or GTFO!"
Also, looks really nice. It'll be my top choice next time I'm in the market
for a new laptop.
Thanks for the correction!
One of the aims of the FSF is to "promote computer user freedom". They
sponsor the GNU project, so it shouldn't surprise anyone if they sponsor
another project as well.
In my opinion, Trisquel is better than gNewSense in providing a fully free
operating system. While the freedom aspect cert
I am not sure if they should dedicate resources to a particular distro.
After all, distro is just a flavour of their work. It's us, the users, that
have to donate and help spread the message.
If you want to go with an Intel motherboard, you should take the one with the
most performant integrated GPU available. This would normally mean
motherboards for the core i3-7 family. If it's too expensive, there is the
GMA X4500 integrated graphicscard. To get it, you should look for mainboa
Google and Apple's combined dominance hasn't stopped others from trying,
though. New mobile operating systems have been springing up like weeds in the
last six months. RIM (now BlackBerry) finally launched the long-awaited
BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Z10 in an attempt to overhaul its image.
@Danfun64:
For a laptop beside LAN / WLAN the graphic chip used is a big challenge for a
free GNU Linux distribution.
I would try to avoid any AMD-based solution since they rely on non-free
blobs. NVidia or Intel are the way to go although you should try to avoid
combined graphic solutions
Thanks for the input!
It is realy helpful.
@Chris: i think the motherboard (intel) does not have grafics.
I guess that is why they mount a separate card.

that is good to know, i had not figured that out.

I learnt from looking at the link at h-node that Parabola also has a long
term release kernel so I switched to that. The LTS kernel should be the
default in my view.
