I've confirmed an issue exists with the 3.15.x kernel and have added a
temporary fix to the support documentation @ ThinkPenguin.com/support.
Besides reverting back to an older kernel you can simply make the following
modification:

Orca starting When Trisquel starts is not a bug or problem; turn off or
remove orca if you find it disruptive.
Thanks for the suggestion of Pluma! Mousepad and leafpad are also
options. I wouldn't suggest libreoffice writer for program source code;
it might reformat text, possibly causing problems; in Python,
indentation is part of the syntax.

I wonder if this cursor bug in Gedit is responsible for my issue with
Gedit and the orca screen reader, when using Trisquel 7? When I type
characters, orca loses track of the cursor. Moving focus to another
window, then back to gedit restores orca's ability to read the text
window, until I ch
Has the Open Source Initiative (OSI) said anything about the motivations for
open source?
I assume that the OSI's definition of open source accomodates Tom Preston

for open source?

Wait! I looked at the options, and it turns out that there's a very simple
solution to all this! After you run "./configure", all you have to do is, on
the line "TB = -DSCID_USE_TB -DT41_INCLUDE", delete everything after "TB ="
and the non-free code won't be included. Yay!
I'm going with the deletion strategy. I've just deleted the two non-free
files. I can get a good ways into compilation, but then I receive this error
from make:
make: *** No rule to make target `src/egtb/tbindex.cpp', needed by
`src/probe.o'. Stop.

As far as I know, Jitsi is free software. Why isn’t it available in the
repositories? What’s the preferred way to install it in Trisquel?

He didn't explicitly make an exception to the GPL allowing linking to nonfree

tbdecode.c should be easy to replace by just getting an implementation off
the internet and changing some things. I don't know about tbindex.cpp.

Because it's easier. I don't want to code, although I can code; I just want
to study chess. I mean, if it's as simple as finding a C++ lzw implementation

lot easier to delete a single line.

I like the simplicity of Trisquel, as well as it being free, its not over
loaded in artwork or graphical effects. For me it's a plus that it comes with
everything, including office apps, built in, so I'm ready to work straight
away. I also like the speed of installion, with Trisquel, I can be
I started the Onboard on-screen-keyboard a few weeks ago. I played with it
for a little while, and then turned it off. It still appears at the log-in

I don't mind that Onboard appears at the log-in screen. But I don't think

Why, if you can use a free replacement?
I would prefer to unlink the code entirely and do without it, if possible.
The nonfree code is in src/egtb, and it's just an implementation of LZW, a
standard algorithm used in GIF files. It actually used to be covered by
software patents, but those expired a decade ago. There are 2 choices: either

SCID (Shane's Chess Information Database) is a fantastic chess program. I

I had this issue too. Alucardx's solution worked for me. I've quoted the

I'll have to agree with you. Donations, and volunteers is a most to have.

Thanks. I couldn't find pluma but leafpad works fine. No problem with the
copy/paste, and the functionality is good enough for programming.
I was told that, with Joomla!, many plugins are privating (proprietary ;

Hello, everybody,
I read in several sites that WordPress is rather advised for beginners.
And you which CMS do you prefer and why ?
Which one would you choose as a librist ? (for free softwares and free

Hello! I recently got my hands on a Blackberry Playbook from RIM.
Is there any hope of installing free software on this tablet?
I'm in broad agreement with you. However, at present Trisquel

As for me, I use Leafpad. I'm no programmer though so my text editing jobs

I've been using Trisquel 7 64-bit (trisquel_7.0-20140708_amd64.iso,

The most serious is in gedit 3.10.4. If I do copy/paste operations using
