Singing voice doesn't matter. Remember who the originator of all this was.

That much makes sense. I have seen Mike Ditka and Jeff Garlin sin
There was, prior to this season, an implication that the organization was going
to focus on people who had a connection to the region to avoid the Jeff Gordon
style fiasco.

And of course, in Chicago we still have a "celeb" singing "Take Me Out to
the Ball Game" for the seventh-inning stretch, as God, Bill Veeck and Harry
Caray intended. (Well, "Take Me Out to the Ball Game.")

Not that I needed more reasons to hate Steinbrenner (and by extension the
Yankees), but now I hope George is suffering in hell.

The Yankees are contrarians. That and their arrogance is what makes it so nice
to root against them.

Yeah, but you know who won't get rid of GBA? The Yankees.
Because Steinbrenner.
Seriously - The Boss installed the ritualistic playing of the Kate Smith
recording at the 7IS after the 9/11 attacks, and they're still doing it
today. It doesn't matter that it's heavy handed. It doesn't matter

I'm with you, Joe. While I get the original sentiment behind adding GBA to
the 7th inning stretch, it has now become annoying, especially as a great
many of those chosen to sing it, can't.
Here in L.A., both KCAL and Prime Ticket have apparently become fed up as
well and now take a longer comm

Buck was born April 25, 1969. McCarver was traded to Philadelphia at the end of
the 1969 season (part of the Curt Flood trade). He was reacquired from Montréal
for the 1973 season and was traded September 1, 1974 to Boston. So Buck
would've seen him at ages four and five.

It may just be the Yankee fan in me, but I really liked the Mariano's

walk-on music for a visiting player is almost unheard of - trust me, this

I take backseat to no one in my disdain for Tim McCarver's broadcasting
since he has been at Fox (in an earlier incarnation he was actually pretty
good). And I am no fan of his partner young Joe B., though I do not hate
him nearly as much. But I did enjoy Buck's tribute to McCarver at the end
