We're converting a customer to Universe, Work Group Edition, on Windows 2003
Server and I'd like to know if anyone has had any issues with UV Rel. 10.2.3
in this environment?
If you were uncomfortable with 10.2.3, what did you fall back to?

Is there an HP JetDirect (internal or external) print server attached to
this printer?

We have been doing this for a few years.
People login to Unix (HP-Ux).
Within each UniBasic program, we do a gosub Access.Check.
I expect to enhance this with a file of users, depts, and printers so that I
no longer have to suffer the "hard-coded" dis.

I am gratified that Dawn and Mark found my silly question amusing.
Newbies need to understand the central role of dynamic arrays in the
multi-value uniVerse.
An excellent place to go is to the world of the author, Malcolm Bull.

Isn't there a way to put a share name on the host computer for the
printer then on the server that is hosting the U2 system, create a
printer name? You should be able to then access the printer from that
name. You would not be able to access the advanced features, directly,
but you should be able
Or is it only possible to resize it to be larger? Would I need to
create a blank file and simply select and copy the records from big
file A to small file B, then resize small file B for appropriate
growth?

cannot to date print to host-based printers. I have seen this many times at
installations where host-based printers (many times a lower cost printer)
reside. And never have I been able to get the printer to respond past the
Hopefully this hasn't been discussed before. I don't have access to my local
mailboxes to check (webmail'ing for now - yuck). We're having a problem
getting a networked HP LaserJet 3600n (color) printer to respond. It's our
first color printer. The manual says it works with PCL. We have it set
How about Radius. It works with both Windows and *nix.

Not sure how to best call out from u2 to ldap - callc or uv equivalent
possibly? Sadly AFAIK u2 _still_ doesn't have the much discussed callJava
functionality.
CROSS at www.cross.net.au sell a native LDAP client for U2 which will
allow you to authenticate credentials against AD or OpenLDAP.
