the program using our vendor's tool kit, the
generated code would have added all the appropriate gunk the system uses for
record locks. The responses have been interesting as I've been looking for a
chance to better understand how Unidata shops handle locks.
Thank you,
Jon Wells
What I'm wondering is; what can I put into the 'Xxx what to do if locked'
section whereby it waits until the record lock clears, once it clears, set my
own lock, read the record, alter the record, and then write the record (which
would release my lock)?
Thank you,
Jon Wells
:
* Lock the record
* Perform the WRITE statement
I'm hoping someone can share an example of how to accomplish this in UniBasic.
Thank you,
Jon Wells

Hi Jeff,
While at Beloit I had a problem with @LOGNAME. It only showed up when a
Datatel program was calling another Datatel program (or something like that).
I know it had something to do with a problem with Uniobjects and PAM
authentication. The work-around was to add the DMI username and
remember it being a pain in the neck. I believe Datatel
had an AnswerNet Doc on the subject.
Cheers,
Jon Wells

Hi Marc,
I believe that Accuterm can handle that [ http://www.asent.com ].

Hi John,
I tried that approach. The select attempts to use the active list for the

You guys were on the right track. My Sys. Admin. traced her
connection to the network and found she was on the wrong kind of
port. After switching that around, scp works much much
faster. Now I'm going to look into this rsync folks have been talking about.
THANKS,

Any suggestions on what else would work in both a secure and,
preferably, a faster manor?

Greg,
This is probably the problem. I'll be able to try this in the morning.
Thanks,

Just a thought...did you try running convdata and convidx (probably
using the -r option on both) against the account you copied over from AIX?

. The startud logs look fine. Looks like all permissions
were preserved.
Any suggestions?

mount /test. It is now working :-)

just say that folks on this list would not consider it a very
good use of Unidata.
Perhaps we *may* talk with Aptron in the future about switching to
their Universe based system.
