My name is on this so I'll respond here. I've said a few times before,
this is not an mvBASE forum and I don't believe questions should be posted
here about other platforms and issues not even remotely related to U2 or
this special interest group. Please post your inquiry in the mvBASE

Also, what is the mvBase Server mvBase name as defined in
Admin Utility for Telnet access to the Server?

I have poured over the RD mvBase portion of their web site and to no avail.
Here's my situation.
Client has mvbase 1.3.02 on a W2000 server and their regular network was
also W2000 server with W98 and XP-Pro clients running mvClient for their
app.
Client upgraded non-mvbase server(s) to W2
Mark, In addition to making sure you UCLOSE the file, I've found that VB
code will sometimes trip on the UOPEN lock that mvBASE has asserted, where
a utility written in C++ or other language may not. It may depend on how
the file is being opened. Try to copy (not move) the file with some

I'm gonna try the method whereby all writes go to a single ported file
and
then UEXECUTE it to the desired destination. I can do multiple writes to
different files, albeit they all remain locked.
Thanks.

about 'until the file gets released' but gives no suggestion. RELEASE
Mark,
We use the interoperability commands in our
corresponding UCLOSE.

Mark - mvBASE has UCREATE, UOPEN, UREAD, UWRITE,

well with other applications on the same system which
may have different operational dynamics than mvBase, and require

Are you doing a STOP and exiting to mvBase TCL?
In UDT or UV, exiting to TCL would close all of your
open o/s file handles, unless they were opened to
labeled COMMON, but maybe mvBase doesn't work that way,
for some reason.
Did you try the mvBase "UCLOSE" statement?
Did you try doing "UOPEN" to

One of my clients has MVbase running on W2k. There are some Data/basic
commands that read/write etc with the network files, ie UOPEN, UCREATE, UREAD,
UWRITE etc.
The trouble is that when the process is complete and the PC file should be
available, you get an 'access denied' message that indicates
