Hello artists,
As I promised yesterday, here's a status update on the progress
that's been made so far on all fronts we're tackling. I'll start of
with the areas closest to what we've been doing on the mailing list.
The human theme artwork has been flowing in at a regular pace the

If someone finds it interesting, It uses actually very few colors, but
I guess these aren't the colors of the palette, I don't have the
knowledge, maybe a more experienced user could help-me?

Is anyone else interested in the pretty virtual terminals, or is that just me?

Hello,
Setting a panel background picture is very good. However, the picture
you show is far too translucent.

I am really, really exited about that animated.gif !!Cheers2006/8/29, Viper550 <[EMAIL PRO
Well, I'm kind of hoping that somehow we'd be able to get past that
limit. I've heard talk of a "better" usplash that will support 256
colors. It's rather ugly with only a few colors.

Completely unrelated and out of sync to Edgy release cycle I put up a glass panel suggestion on the wiki: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/GlassPanel
I've been using it on my desktop for a few days and thought - "Hey, the artwork team has been going glassy all over the place lately. Perhaps

Yeah, wasn't it one of the main art-related objectives of Edgy to get
that crappy text out of the distro's usplash?

Well, I dont know if we need a terminal emulator.Ubuntu is a linux-beginner distro. I'd go for usplash without scrolling text.Even the text was freaking out some beginners so ... We don't want to scare them :)
Seriously, focus the usplash with a higher resolution and color depth.Cheers PingunZ2006/
Hello,
Afaik, bootsplash for bootsplash.org is a quiet ugly patch that include
a lot of graphical stuff (jpeg decompression, ttf support, etc.) in the
kernel.
Something possible would a text terminal emulator that execute login and
use svga or similar to draw a themed terminal.

That is fbsplash. It uses a vesaFB patch for the kernel.Usplash will probably be able to have a higher resolution/color but wont have a console mode.GFXboot is just a patch for grub. It makes it look like suse but allows you 640*480 resolution.
It is nice but loads a little slower then the normal gr
Hi all,
I tried SUSE the other day and noticed that they have some rather nice
themeing going on on their system consoles (I.E the things you access
using CTRL+ALT+F?). They have an image at the top and use higher
resolutions for the text - I'd like to do similar on Ubuntu.
I don't know what they
