I found 4 ethernet cables of varying lengths, so I've tagged them with my name and chucked them in my bag with a backup modem/router. I'm also bringing 3 mice (1 wired, 2 wireless) if anyone needs to borrow them.-- Sent from my HP TouchPad. Please excuse any brevity or typos.On 05/01/2012 10:40

Ok,
Well the rsync is finally completed. I have a complete copy of
http://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/ubuntu/ on a USB drive (around 500GB).
I have pointed archive.ubuntu.com and security.ubuntu.com to the
correct IP of the machine on the lan (pinging archive.ubuntu.com gives
the local lan IP
So on another note, we're starting to get most things covered for this
event. As far as I can see there are only a couple of requirements

I'm going to bring enough hardware for the actual network
infrastructure (switch, server, wireless access point) but I
I can bring a 7.2Mbps Telstra dongle, it's got $100-ish of credit on it. I have some ethernet cabling here, not sure how many, so I'll get back to you on that one. Also, have we thought of powerboards and extension cables? I've got various ones lying around here that I can lug along.-- Sent from

Ok so I'm so exciting I spent new year's eve configuring the laptop.
It's now a lamp server with dhcp and bind. I've told bind to steal
archive.ubuntu.com and point it at the laptop where I can mount the
USB drive and tah dah, it should work without having to tweak any new
installs anywhere.

Well, if needed, I can bring a Thomson TG782T WiFi/4PortEthernet modem/router, which has a USB port to mount USB drives as network drives. I'm getting a new one tomorrow, so this one is just going to go on eBay or in the bin.-- Sent from my HP TouchPad. Please excuse any brevity or typos.On

Yeah it sounds like a good idea but I don't know how useful it will
actually be. Unfortunately it was someone else's idea, I just happened

Good morning,
With the InstallFest just over 2 weeks away I thought I'd see if
anyone had any better ideas about the technical side of it all. I have
the ability to provide the following:
* 48 port 10/100 cisco switch
* home network gateway for internet (I'd probably only really suggest
using it

Windows partition also.
