It seems like this only happens with certain themes... After switching
my window borders to New Wave it seems like it's not happening
anymore. It also doesn't happen when using compiz, even with themes that
screw up metacity.

I am also seeing this problem. Whenever I unplug my USB mouse and plug
it back in, the mouse acceleration is reset. If I simply open the mouse
preferences dialog and then close it again, without changing any
settings, then the acceleration goes back to the value I originally
specified.

bluetooth but it comes with a small USB thing that it can use instead of
bluetooth. In hardy, the keyboard works fine but the mouse does not. It

Weird, I'm using eclipse 3.3.2 in ubuntu 8.04 right now, it seems to
work fine. All I had to do was install sun-java6-bin/sun-java6-jre/sun-
java6-plugin, extract the eclipse .tar.gz into a directory in my home
directory and run it.

It really looked like the restricted drivers available message
happened at the exact same time as this error. Does that program access
the dpkg database, perhaps to see if restricted drivers are already
installed? If so, maybe the update manager should lock the dpkg database
the entire time it is

Are there any security issues with using the users theme in an program
running as root? If not, it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to
do. (Although I don't really know the specifics of how that works)

upgrading. I have also seen the same error message if I go to
synaptic-Status-Not installed (residual config) and try to purge
