Note, this is a hybrid analog/digital card. saa7134 is loaded

Well, turns out that gaim dies on any attempt to save or open a file.
Think it may be something to do with the file open dialog.
Also, just trying to confirm this bug hasn't been lost in the madness.

Apparently there was some error in the packaging of Ubuntu's 1.42-4 - it

Recently in edgy, lots of init scripts (for example /etc/init.d/gdm)
started spawning error messages chdir: No such file or directory on
invocation. This turns out to be usplash's fault, which tries to chdir
to /dev/.initramfs, even though that
ok sorry im out of town so i am not checking mail as often as normal but
heres what would help you. Take away the # on the lines thats start with
deb http than sudo apt-get update than run sudo apt-get install
ubuntu-desktop. once that is done you should beable to upgrade without
an issue.
I also think it would be a good idea to have 6.4.2 available for Dapper.
To avoid some head-aches.

I took my ipod to one of the geniuses at the Mac store and he
reformatted the hard drive.
Using the current stock dapper kernel (linux-image-2.6.15-26-686), I
have succesfully used gtkpod to transfer music to the ipod (connected
directly to the laptop, no hub). I no longer receive any Buffer I/O

well, kernel 2.6.15-23-686 is definitely stable on edgy, but not on dapper.
This is exactely the same .deb package so I start to believe that something
else interact with the sata drive and create the slowing down.
Maybe some power management software. I couldn't point this out so far.

I uploaded a version that should fix this problem to dapper-updates. It
is currently in the moderation queue. To workaround the problem with the
changelogs, please try adding deb-src lines to your sources.list for
all your regular binary deb lines.

Removing the extra space would be against Fitts' Law, since it would
also remove the space between the buttons in the lower left cornor and
the statusbar/window border.
A possible solution, that can also be found in evolution, is to add an
extra space around the buttons and violate the alignment.

I can understand the DSDT problem as that is common (although I think
Asus uses the Intel compiler rather than MS). What doesn't make sense
to me is that a development Ubuntu kernel prior to Dapper release works
and the Edgy 2.6.17 kernel works as well.
Doesn't this point to a kernel issue?

It doesn't seem so because of the latest gnome-panel installed. I
have tried to reproduce it and it no longer crashes. So, I think its a fixed
bug.

Is this with Dapper? I get no dialog with edgy, just an error message
where the definition is supposed to appear.
