I tried the printer on the same CUPS setup but with a machine with
a USB2 port rather than USB1 (and thus ehci-hcd and not uhci-hcd). Much better:

This has happened to me several times, and each time I eventually
determined that it was the fault of a corrupt mp3 file incorrectly
reporting its length. You can use mp3info to try to identify the
offending file(s).

I reported this against ncurses and not eterm because apparently
ncurses-base provides the terminfo files, which is where I found the
fix. I have no idea where it came from, but on my dapper box I have a
/etc/terminfo/E/Eterm file, and if I put this file on my edgy box, the
problem goes away.

you play local files only? CD? Do you iconify it? Do you have a change
to memory use after an hour by example?

I don't understand do you mean that:
* The scripts point to a non-existing /bin/sh ?
or:

Bash scripts fail because they point to /bin/sh
Adding the two libraries, /usr/lib/vmware-player/lib/libdbus-
glib-1.so.2.0.0/libdbus-glib-1.so.2.0.0 and /usr/lib/vmware-player/lib
/libdbus-glib-1.so.2/libdbus-glib-1.so.2 worked. This libraries need to
be added to the distribution.

evolution expands last-selected

anyway the output is correct, and even gnome power manager gives only
the correct tooltip over the icon (which is wrong, as if the laptop has
no battery, and yes the icon is NOT
dmesg shows

gnome-terminal is not drawing immediately
Rhythmbox 0.9.3.1 on Dapper. I play only local files (mp3s some ogg)
usually, although I do have the DAAP sharing option turned on and there
are a fair amount of people on my network. It stays iconified in the
tray for most of the time.
I will now start Valgrind and hopefully will have
just a question: can gstreamer handle w32codecs without the pitfdll
package? I cannot try it now because the partition in which I
installed edgy is completely broken.
