either, and we realigned (mostly) with Debian Sid's packaging at the

extension seems to be enabled by default.
Adding "export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1" to /etc/firefox/firefoxrc
should workaround the problem for now.

This is still occurring for me, although according to the bug report I
first saw it under (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk-qt-
engine/+bug/47760) it has now been fixed. As far as I can tell, all my
packages are up to date. I'm running dapper with gtk2-engines-gtk-qt
version 0.60-1.
Well, that was on dapper. I haven't tried this on edgy yet, but I guess it
could get upstream fix in the new gnome release.

I agree, deleting the files directly while warning the user is by far
the best compromise, just like it is done on remote locations. It
removes all hidden stuff, is fast (no file transfer), clear (user can
just hit Cancel if he/she made a mistake).

Impact: translations in dapper-backports packages are currently
stripped off. However, the dapper langpacks cover dapper and
dapper-updates, not -backports, thus you currently get wrong
