and I do not have this problem. The system boots (and reboots)
without hanging or powering off.
It is quite likely due to down-rev'd firmware.

Looking at it, it doesn't seem very accurate for a number of other
configurations as well. I think the approach used for ticking the
progress bar in initramfs isn't adequate and this needs a rethink.

Made some small diagnostic progress on this. still no joy with the
libusb direct method. However I can verify that it's possible to send
data across the /dev/ttyUSB* ports created by the visor module (if it's
not blacklisted). pilot-xfer still won't work; in fact, as far as I
can tell, just star
I cannot print the mentioned web page both on Ubuntu Edgy and Mandriva
2007 (=> Upstream bug).
Printing to an HP LaserJet 4050 (with manufacturer-supplied PPD) with
queue defined on Edgy with all updates (CUPS 1.2.3 with Debian patches,
newest foomatic-filters, ...) lets the printer print an error

After resetting computer all ran right but suddenly Kubuntu crashed
again.

I can confirm this on my system with evolution 2.8.0-0ubuntu3 installed.
When launching Evo from Applications>Internet>Evolution, it contacts the
