there's also something similar going on with usb scanners - my usb
scanner won't work on my amd64 or 32bit box.
i filed Bug #78205 about this and the printer thing cos i didn't know
if they belonged together or not and also didn't know where to file a

I have attempted to recreate this problem on my system. The first time
I scanned an image I used xsane version 0.991 setting of line art. The
image was poor quality. The second scan I did was in color and appears
to be good.
The system that I used to test against the above issue was Kubuntu

name change, modifies it for validation, and copies it into
/usr/share/applications.

The bug is still present in the most recent binary package for edgy
(gtkmm 2.10.2).
It would be nice to have a package for a more recent, fixed version of gtkmm.
Both libglibmm-2.12.3 and lib-gtkmm-2.10.6 run fine when installed from feisty
sources on an edgy installation:

Xvnc4 (package vnc4server) unable to find fixed font in Breezy

I have somewhat the same problem. Have updated with the Echty Live CD
form dapper. Have formated my / partition bot left my /home partition.
Now I have NO sound. Anny soundprogram craches on opening. And I trayed
all the fixes here given. Noting works.
Pease HELP. I need sound.
