Thanks for your report. This is also bug 73058 (or very similar), and is
fixed in Feisty.

Ahh great! Thanks to b0ng0 for that nice hint. This exactly is what I
recognized. It just unmounts the mount points but doesn't switch off the
external hdd.
But with b0ng0's command it just disconnects the
Nvidia 8800 GTX
fresh install of ubuntu feisty.
i386 Fix:
wget
http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/1.0-9755/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1.run
sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1 -x
sudo cp -f
NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-9755-pkg1/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libnvidia-wfb.so.1.0.9755
Can someone provide a link to the patch that has been commited (or a tag
to checkout); I'd just be interested in trying it to see if it fixes it
for me.

If I could figure out how to get my Canon i850 printer to work properly
under Suse 10.2 Linux, I would go back, but there seems to be no way to
get the Pixus driver installed, or at least installed in a way I can
figure out how to use it. I have the apt-get commands for Debian based

Public bug reported:
/etc/kernel-img.conf not updated as according to Debian change logs.
Still calls /sbin/update-grub as post install and post remove hooks
rather then /usr/sbin/update-grub.
My /etc/kernel-img.conf after a fresh install of Feisty x86 from the
Desktop Pc looks like this.
Could I have /var/log/installer/syslog too? You're using Ubuntu 6.06, so
most of the interesting log messages are there.

Could you please try a more recent version of Ubuntu?
