CD-ROM can run Knoppix w/no problems. However, attempts to install from
the Feisty Alternate CD halts with/no CD-ROM found etc. Brought up a

I can confirm such a problem: USB mouse freezes randomly. No hint in
dmesg at that time. After unplugging, the following appears:
[ 1452.009000] usb usb2: usb auto-resume
[ 1452.009000] usb usb2: finish resume
[ 1452.01] hub 2-0:1.0: hub_resume
[ 1452.01] ehci_hcd :00:02.1: resume root
I have precisely the same behaviour in my kubuntu 7.04 fresh install.
Browsing samba shares with either konqueror or dolphin workd fine,
though.
Cheers,

The problem is NOT solved. I have upgraded the bios to 1.60 and made the
adjustments as specified by Loic Martin above. No further modifications to the
bios defaults. The cpu is a Sempron 2800. The uname -1 response is:
Linux ... 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Thu Jun 7 20:19:32 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux
I forgot to mention that this is with version 0.85eubuntu10 of
initramfs-tools.
