I just want to add that I just had similar problem.
I opened cp1250 encoding text file. Gedit opened it incorrectly as iso-8859-2
file thus making it hardly readable.
I tried the same file in Leafpad - worked fine (probably has some type of
guessing algorithm).
I tried it in Geany - opened wrong,
I can't -- I dropped this machine on the concrete about a year and a
half ago... Now nothing at all works on it! ;)

I have received the below error message during boot up for all Intrepid alpha

Grey is fine. The problem is the tooltip telling you that rules are
disabled regardless of whether they are or not.
The rules still exist in both configurations so they should still be
shown. Greying them out is intuitive and appropriate for rules which
exist but currently have no effect.

I was trying to run vmware player using the intrepid 2.6.27-3 kernel.
The patch above seemed to work. Was able to patch vmnet myself, however
vmblock service crashed system on startup.
Now I found a fully functional solution. In a chinese ubuntu forum I
found patched modules that work for me. Here
The kopete source package houses an old version of Kopete. The latest
Kopete lives in kdenetwork since Hardy on.
Anyway, I can confirm the issue.
