Confirmed on Intrepid. The workaround did not work for me. Somehow any
changes regarding the compiz-no compiz question gets discarded at
logout. I have to turn off compiz every time I log in. I just don't know
which variable is string instead of list. Is there a way to find it out?

I can confirm this bug. It seems that evolution-data-server process gets
bigger and bigger as you close and start again Evolution. Doing this
several times in the day will make evolution-data-server eat more than 2
GB of memory, which will also make the system have an error during the
hibernation,

I have done every step mentioned still no luck. tbird will not launch

I tested this with a current SVN copy of mplayer (r28108). It detects
the tags, but I don't know if the problem is with the standard
configuration of the distribution's version of mplayer, or that the fix
hasn't simply been imported into our version yet.

time too. I reformated my array to XFS. I tried to copy a large amount

Here is a workaround that worked for me ( who uses a Logitech Mouse.)
But I think it will occur with ANY mouse !
I identified that hciconfig reported that hci0 interface was RUNNING
but NOT SCANNING
I tried sudo hciconfig hci0 pscan
Then... it works until reboot.
So I inserted hciconfig hci0
It happened when I was trying to updating from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10. I had to
reinstall all packages from console, and then everything works ok.

Reloading iwl3945 module doesn't help for me.

did wireless work for you using 2.6.24-19-generic (in Hardy) ?
Wireless was working fine on my computer until 2.6.24-19-generic, after this
(in both Hardy and Intrepid) it has been completely broken. It does however
work fine with an Zydas

It's an Intel chip (X4500).
I'm pretty sure it's the kernel, although I might be wrong. I'm basing
this on the fact that the relevant controls are found under
/sys/class/backlight/asus-laptop, i.e. a directory the asus-laptop
module creates.

Here is an update:
I noticed that there is a new Samba package in the repository. I
installed it per this dpkg.log entry:

Can you enable sound again by setting PCM in alsamixer -Dhw to 100 or so? And
are you sure every channel is unmuted? (MM) under a channel means that it is
muted, you unmute with the key M . Also you try a alsactl restore.
