While i am downloading large files from Internet with Firefox, flash disks and
external hdds aren't being automatically mounted.

All,
In order to circumvent this error, I removed the SPLASHY and associated
themes. I then installed the updates and re-installed SPLASHY. Worked
for me. This isn't a fix, but a workaround for the updates. At least,
those were the steps that worked for me.

The problem is actually with screen-profiles, which provides a dpkg-
diversion for /usr/bin/screen, which is installed 755.
However, this diversion goes away with an upgrade to byobu. I'm
uploading a fix shortly in byobu.

No joy for me with the karmic packages. I performed a dpkg install of
the two .deb packages, but I'm still getting the "waiting for device to
settle before scanning" output from the dmesg output. Maybe I'm doing
something wrong.
