No, this is not fixed in Karmic Koala. Just have upgraded to Karmic, but
the (similar) problem still exists: the system hangs (freeze) after boot
(mouse cursor doesn't moving, Num Lock doesn't work), so only hardware
reset helps to reboot.

On the one hand it did not work in pidgin either but it is still a
really annoying limitation. At this stage though it probably could not
be fixed without changes to the library supporting new features, which
probably will not be happen this close to release (prove me wrong :-) )

I am a Linux-Trainer and use to show my students how to configure Linux. I just
can't believe that a new release is pushing Linux-Newbies to the terminal for
such a simple thing as the configuration of the login screen. Why??
If Linux is supposed to become more like Windows, it is on a bad way.
It happens on Jaunty and not just in Intrepid. Therefore the title
should be changed.
I think this list should be filtered out so that only unique entries may

Could you test this bug with latest update maven's packages? Now karmic
has got maven 2.2.1 in repositories. In my opinion this bug has been
fixed, but please reporter for test.

Actually Totem should not need an swf decoder at all, as it's using the .mp4
files from youtube.
Maybe Youtube itself has changed something?

I'm experiencing the same problem on a Dell Latitude D600. For me the
behavior seems to depend on the speed of the button click: if I click
(or rather, release) the button fast enough, it works as expected, but
if doing it slowly I see the click and hold behavior. In my case I'm
seeing it both
Fair enough. I'll just resubscribe this as soon as development for Lucid Lynx
starts.
It's not like it's a show stopper or anything. Better to have it up to date in
the long term support release anyway.

Package heavily out of date
Ignore my last comment - I found that MythTV 0.22 deliberately suspends
the PulseAudio server when it runs and then resumes PA when MythTV
quits.
To get around it, all I had to do was add export
EXPERIMENTALLY_ALLOW_PULSE_AUDIO=1 to the end of my ~/.profile file,
log out and back in and now
