3.5 is not as stable yet as I want on this machine for daily use.

I'm very sorry for late message, i think i became really slowpoke for the last
time. I should have post this here many time ago.
I revisited Ubuntu and WinXP wlan configurations and found that wireless in
ubuntu is depending on WinXP Wireless Zero Configuration set up.
I mean WinXP-Control Panel-
I have the same issue in my Dell 12.04 . But I have observed that if I
turn off the wireless and then shutdown , it works fine. Also "sudo
poweroff" also works for me.
I have installed "firmware-b43-lpphy-installer" for my Wireless card as
its Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:43
ahem. :-) Fixed (for me) by altering the uams parameters in afpd.conf.
Previous (precise) configuration included uams_dhx2_passwd.so instead of
default uams_dhx2.so. When I re-applied that change and restarted,
everything worked.

The error message appeared when I wanted to select a personal picture for my
desktop screen.
I updated my system form Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04 including all the distributions
in between (10.10, 11.04, 11.10).
If I remember correctly the installation process asked me to restart

distributions, but... 10.04 is still supported. Unfortunately, it
seems that the common "solution" is to upgrade to a later distribution,
which may not be an option for some people. It is a good

menu. Unmaximize the vmware window, with display properties opened. Then
