I am seeing this too. When update manager is auto-started when updates
are avaiable (in a minimized stated) and I click on its launcher icon,
its window is empty.
A easier workaround for me than closing and restarting update-manager is
to just minimize it and then bringing it up again. Then its wi
x86 stable

Same here on Acer notebook, SynPS/2 Synaptics Touchpad. Two finger

I've had this issue repeatedly. Here are the apps I typically have open
when this occurs: Firefox 14, Gnome Terminal, GEdit. This is running in
VirtualBox. Looking at strace and .xsession-errors, I see that gnome-
settings-daemon appears to be getting into some sort of infinite loop.

Please check to see if the kernel thinks root was mounted twice.
What appears to have happened to me was that when I booted with the
esata device powered off, the esata device was /dev/sdc. When I booted

Just want to add that after trying the patch by bgamari my touchpad is
still recognized as PS/2 Generic Mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 x64 on
a Dell Vostro 3360.

the kernel there doesn't handle my encrypted home directory properly, so
I'm two revisions back on that (3.5.0-9-generic), but I have not seen
this problem in a LONG time, and I suspend several times every day.
