today over my upgrade from 14.04 to 14.10 .
This did NOT fix the problem.
For me, the issue is exclusively with network-manager-vpnc connections.

I installed the Ubuntu 14.04 64bit desktop on this ASUS F75A a few weeks
ago while it was still in beta.
Today, upon logging into this machine, the Unity Dekstop was missing the
top-panel and the launcher. I had to then press the power button for 5
seconds to turn off this

After the first boot (after install), the command prompt constantly gets
messages that look like this:
[ 1352.248013] mei_me :00:03.0: timer: connect/disconnect timeout.
[ 1357.248022] mei_me
Dang, I just downgraded by doing a fresh install of server 12.04.4
(instead of server 14.04) (hoping this would go away).
No luck! It constantly posts these same mei_me alerts to the terminal;
it makes it hard to even type commands; it constantly interrupts your
typing flow.

Although I'm no longer able to install the .deb downloaded from Google, these
instruction were successful:

These 3 commands worked:

I tried to move the cropper while scanning and simple-scan crashed and
froze up may computer needing a hard reboot.
Since this, simple-scan won't launch anymore.

This is a very important plugin for me; it allows me to do all my
telephone conversation from my laptop while simply being logged into
gmail through firefox.
Does anyone know what recent changes could have effected my ability to
install this plugin successfully?

I open a lot of tabs in gedit, so saving each one of them is cumbersome
if I need to reboot or want to continue a project the next day.
The session-saver plugin addresses this need, but no longer seems to be
included in the gedit-plugins package in Ubuntu 14.04.

Although this was fix in earlier releases of Ubuntu, I'm now again
experiencing the bug where you'll launch an application (from the
launcher) on a particular Monitor (in a dual monitor setup) and then the
application get launched into the opposite monitor.

Maybe upon lock, you can take note of the user's settings and the issue this
command after a time out occurs:
